Although studyign the lyrics themselves are crucial when analysing a video this does not mean word for word, by looking at the overall mood and emotions tyring to be embraced upon the audience.
I share something like Oleg's sorts of experiences with my ability to conjure up entire visual landscapes overlaid onto the real world. I can do this deliberately or just drift into it. It is always there. I once told someone I could "see" an entire seascape around him and he found this very insulting. Apparently I should have been more focussed on him: He hadn't given his permission for me to locate him in my "elsewhere"! I only have to close my eyes briefly and it is as though there is a cartoon world under my eyelids! I am very accustomed to this but have never met anyone else who related to it, until recently: I now teach singing to someone who has exceptional visual conjuring as well and the strange thing is that her face whilst singing can be expressionless and deadpan. Maybe she struggles to want to share the connection she is making to the music.
I like the theory that in ancient times the natural way of things was for our senses to overlap...and that modern worlds have progressively dumped constraints on us and made us section things off in compartments..
I wonder if Oleg can turn visuals on or off?

I am a very visual person and whenever I listen to music, I get a whole music video from it. Sometimes the images are so vivid that I end up only remembering the "music video" instead of the actual song when I try to remember the song I heard X days ago. This is similar to reading a good book (image-wise) but I don't need lyrics to retrieve the songs story.

[...] Synaesthesia As a fan of creative synaesthesia and inter-disciplinary creativity I was pleased to see Mark Hancock catch the synaesthesia bug when he ventured out of the advertising world and spent time with videogame creator Tetsuya Mizuguchi. Noisy Decent Graphics did a brilliant piece on What I see when I listen and Russell played around with Electroplankton, which looks a bit like an online, affordable version of the Reactable.
