Thanks Scott. Yes I know what you mean re confusion, that's why I use 'business coaching' instead of just 'coaching'. I sometimes find people get mixed up with life coaching and think it's all about personal development. So I wrote another post earlier in this series about different types of coaching: http://www.wishfulthinking.co.uk/blog/2007/03/29/different-types-of-coaching/

On the other hand, whatever we call it there are bound to be misunderstandings. One of the things I discovered in my research project about coaching in the creative sector is that some people are positively allergic to the very word 'coaching'. More on that when I publish the research paper later this year. http://www.wishfulthinking.co.uk/blog/2007/03/29/different-types-of-coaching/

And great site yourself! Looking forward to reading more of your rants...

This is a great help for all of us involved in business - especially in consulting! One thing I come across a lot is the confusion between Business Coaching and Sports Coaching. Obviously two very different roles but I understand where why people get confused. I have realised that the problemt was that I missed out the "Business" from my definitions but I still think I need to do more to hit this right. I'm going to see if we can come up with an image to represent BC or a video or something that removes this confusion. Then again perhaps it is me that is confused??

Great site!!
