Hi Mark-
Just to say all hail for your empathetic review of The Scene Of My Former Triumph -its not favourable or unfavourable reviews we neccessarily crave
[well, not much-in my case ANY fuckin’ review is welcome] -but ones which at least understand the ‘intention’ of the work -I always like reviewers who quote a good deal [ the supreme e.g being Randall Jarrell’s review of Marianne Moore] - your bit RE trying to capture 21st Century life was bang on … its the intention of the book to have so much coming at you that you barely have time to breathe ……to have ‘too much’…
so, a thousand thanks and a raised glass
salute
Matthew Caley
