Hello Twitter visitors!

My name is Mark McGuinness and I live in London.

This is what I do when I’m not on Twitter:

Lateral Action: creativity + productivity = success

Lateral Action is a web publication to help creative professionals succeed in the 21st century.

Marla, Jack and Lou

As well as regular articles about creativity and productivity, it features an innovative series of animated videos, telling the story of Jack, a creative guy with the world at his feet but unsure whether to follow Lou‘s conventional business advice or to try and emulate his mentor, the creative entrepreneur Marla.

Lateral Action is a joint venture between Brian Clark, Tony Clark and me.

To follow the story and receive a regular stream of inspiring and useful articles, sign up for free updates via RSS or e-mail.

Wishful Thinking: coaching and training for creative people

I’m a business coach and trainer for creative companies and freelance artists and creatives.

I focus on the ‘people factors’ in the creative process — imagination, collaboration and direction.

Most of the organisations I work with are within the creative industries — TV, computer games, advertising, marketing, design etc. But I have a pretty broad definition of ‘creative people’ and am happy to work with anyone who takes creativity seriously.

Feel free to e-mail me to enquire in confidence about coaching or training for you or your organisation.

I write the Wishful Thinking blog to share tips and inspiration for creative professionals. You can have the latest blog posts delivered to you (free, of course) via RSS or E-mail.

I write poetry and am on the editorial board of the acclaimed magazine Magma Poetry. I also write about poems that catch my eye on my poetry blog

I edited Magma 34, which is archived — including audio recordings of many of the poets in the issue — on the website of the UK Poetry Library.

If you’re not already following me, here’s my Twitter page. I serve up bite-sized inspiration (links, quotes, questions) in between hanging out and chatting by the virtual water cooler.
